Windows Geniune Advantage Notification… HELP!!!!?

I have Windows XP sp 2 ver 5.1. While downloading automatic updates, I happended to download one update that has now stopped downloading all the updates. I am talking about update ‘B905474 – Windows Geniune Advantage Notification.’

It has notified that my copy is not validated and therefore I cannot download any more updates. I get this message: “You may be a victim of software counterfeiting. This copy of Windows is not genuine and is not eligible to receive all updates and product support from Microsoft. Click Get Genuine now to get more information and resolve this issue.”
The worst part is I am not able to uninstall this update.

Is there a way out I can continue to receive benifits of Automatic Updates without registering my copy of Windows? Please help.

First off, MS has disabled thousands of VALID copies of win XP and many more of Vista. Their method of checking is flawed and has left many valid customers without access to their computers.
Switch to Linux: www.ubuntu.com

disable WGA:
1. Launch Windows Task Manager.
2. End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager.
3. Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode.
4. Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32.
5. Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache.
6. Launch RegEdit.
7. Browse to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
8. Delete the folder ‘WgaLogon’ and all its contents
9. Reboot Windows XP.

After rebooting go to:
Control Panel -> Automatic Updates
select Notify me but don’t automatically download or install
When new updates are available make sure not to download WGA updates. All other updates will work correctly.
